England’s Judd Trump aiming for Crucible glory: 2012 China Open
Winner of the 2011 UK Championship from England, Judd Trump crashed out of the 2012 China Open snooker tournament where he was defending the title. The Englishman received a brutal defeat at the hands of 2012 Players Tour Championship (PTC) Grand Finals
winner, compatriot Stephen Lee by an easy score line of 5-3 at the Beijing University Students Gymnasium.
The runner up in the 2011 World Snooker Championship against John Higgins will now be heading to Sheffield to take part in the 2012 World Snooker Championship at the Crucible Theatre. The Bristolian potter is looking forward to hit the Crucible glory that
he missed last time against Higgins. The 22-year-old said he will be practising hard putting his defeat at the China Open aside.
Speaking to the World Snooker after his last match against Lee, Trump said, “I won't really take too much notice of it. It's a lot harder to play out here with the time difference so I won't really take too much notice. I'm just looking forward to the World
Championship and hopefully I can have a good run there.”
The Ace added, “I felt alright at the start but then after that I started to miss a few. He played well so you can't expect to win. I'm going to go home now and have a couple of days off and then put a new tip on and get practising hard for the World and
go up there the day before and just chill out really.”
Trump started his run to defend his Chinese title at the Beijing University Students Gymnasium with splendid wins over the People’s Champion Jimmy White and the 2011 Australian Goldfields Open winner Stuart Bingham. However, he was not able to continue his
good form against the PTC Finals winner and dropped down at his hands by 5-3.
Crashing out of the China Open and missing the opportunity to lift the title again did hurt the Bristolian and he was disappointed over his loss but he believes that he should be moving on with new objectives. Lee, on the other hand, has moved into the semis
where he will meet the Scotsman Stephen Maguire.
