England’s Judd Trump contender for Player of the Year Award – Snooker News
Winner of the 2011 UK Championship, England’s Judd Trump has been nominated for the Fans Player of the Year Award once again this year. The Bristolian potter clinched the award last year after performing brilliantly in the 2010-11 Snooker Season. This year,
the youngster is once again nominated for the award and has chances to win it again but it all depends upon the fans’ votes for him.
World Snooker organises its annual awards night every year to cherish the snooker talent. The Fans Player of the Year Award is a recognition and appreciation of player’s contribution to the game and their fans. This year, the ceremony will be held at the
Dorchester Hotel in London on May 10.
The players are nominated for the award on the basis of their performance in the snooker season. Any potter who has won any major title or an invitational event is automatically added to the list. Due to his superb performance in the second half of the 2010-11
Snooker Season, Trump was nominated for the award which he eventually won because of the votes.
Last year, the 22-year-old clinched the 2011 China Open snooker tournament beating the World Number one, Mark Selby by the score line of 10-8 to add first ranking title in his account. After that the Ace continued his dominance in the 2011 Word Snooker Championship
and reached the final encounter where he lost to the Scotsman, John Higgins by the score line of 15-18.
This year, Mr. Haircut 100 is nominated on the basis of his tremendous performance in the entire 2011-12 Snooker Season. During his season run, Trump has clinched two Players Tour Championship (PTC) events along with two Premier League event wins. With his
PTC victories and noticeable performances in other PTC events, he clinched the Number one spot in the PTC Order of Merit.
Trump’s noticeable success was the title of 2011 UK Championship where he defeated the current World Number one, compatriot Mark Selby by the score line of 10-8. The young Bristolian potter improved his ranking with his performance and is now the World Number
3.
