England’s Judd Trump disappointed after crashing out of 2012 World Open against Mark Allen
Winner of the 2011 UK Championship, England’s Judd Trump was pretty confident of winning the 2012 World Open snooker tournament at the Haikou Stadium arena in Hainan Island but unfortunately he failed to claim his win against Mark Allen and crashed out of
the tournament.
Before coming to China, Trump showed impressive performance in the 2011 UK Championship and clinched his first UK title beating Allen in the final. After that, he could not retain his form and tumbled down in the 2012 Masters snooker tournament when he lost
in the semi-final clash against the former World Snooker Champion, Australia’s Neil Robertson by the score line of 3-6.
After that he participated in the 2012 Snooker Shootout but failed to reach the second round and lost to the reigning World Snooker Champion, Scotland’s John Higgins in Round 1 by 16-62. His next stop was Germany where he took part in the 2012 German Masters.
The Bristolian potter made his way into the quarter-finals beating Fergal O’Brien and Stuart Bingham but lost to Stephen Maguire and crashed out of the event.
The 22-year-old played impressively in the 2012 Welsh open and breezed into the quarters of the tournament but there he was not able to win over the Rocket, Ronnie O’Sullivan and slipped down by an easy score line of 3-5.
However, Trump was confident in the 2012 World Open and started his campaign brilliantly claiming a whitewash victory over compatriot Andrew Higginson.
He was up against his UK Championship opponent, Northern Ireland’s Mark Allen in the second round. He played outstandingly in the match but after a tussling encounter, he went down by 4-5 and missed his chance to hit the title. The Ace is very disappointed
about his defeat in the event because he was hoping to win the title.
Speaking to the local media after his match, Trump said, “I should have made my lead count, but fair play to Mark because he played well. I had a chance at 4-4 to win the match and didn’t take it, so I can’t complain. I’m obviously disappointed to have lost,
but I feel my game’s in good shape and I’ll keep preparing for the World Championship next month.”
Mr. Haircut 100 will now be heading to Ireland to test his luck in the finals of Players Tour Championship (PTC). The event will commence from March 14 at the Bailey Allen Hall, Galway.
