England’s Judd Trump feels it is his time to shine – Snooker news
Era of oldies is fading slowly in the world of snooker, especially when some young snooker stars are emerging with each rising sun. The previous season was quite fertile because it featured many new faces on the snooker calendar after they stunned veterans
with their impressive snooker genius and the world of snooker saw them turning into top potters in no time.
England’s Judd Trump was on top of the list of rookies who eventually became the toughest opponents to play against. He became the apple of people’s eyes after he ousted one of the toughest contenders of that time, Mark Selby, in the final of 2011 China
Open and clinched his first even ranking title. He did not let go of his efforts and kept struggling towards his goal to become a top snooker player.
The Bristolian potter shocked everyone again when he made his way to the final encounter of 2011 World Snooker Championship against veteran, Scotland’s John Higgins. Although he lost against the Scotsman but he placed his name in the list of future legends.
Despite his defeat, he was highly appreciated all over the world for his excellent run.
He entered the new snooker season with impressive form, clinching a couple of Players Tour Championship (PTC) events and Premier League Snooker (PLS) tournaments. During his season run, he kept his form alive, which finally got paid in the shape of 2011
UK Championship title. The young English potter now believes that it is his time to shine in snooker.
The 22-year-potter spoke to British Broadcasting Corporation, “There definitely is a changing of the guard, so hopefully I can be the player that dominates. It's going to be tough because there's a lot of great players still, and a lot of young ones coming
through like me. But I feel as though I'm getting better and better, I feel as though it is my time.”
Mr. Haircut 100 added, “I don't want to be a one-hit wonder, but I know I'm not going to be and I've proved that by winning two titles. Winning the UK Championship gave me lots of confidence; it was nice to win such a big tournament as my first major title.
But I felt as though that victory was coming after getting to the Crucible final last season.”
The Ace is now heading to Alexandra Palace, where he will be competing in the 2012 Masters snooker tournament. He is drawn against 2011 Australian Goldfields Open champion and compatriot, Stuart Bingham.
