England’s Judd Trump ousts compatriot Stuart Bingham in Round 1 of 2012 Masters at Alexandra Palace
The 2011 UK Championship winner, England’s Judd Trump secured a superb victory as he trounced compatriot, Stuart Bingham, by the score line of 6-3 in the first round of 2012 Masters snooker event at Alexandra Palace in Stock, Essex. The match up seemed an
easy job for the Bristolian as he came back from 2-3 down to claim the overall victory, 6-3.
Before the match, predictions were made by several critics and they nominated Trump as the favourite because the youngster has achieved his goals quite astonishingly in the past eight months. Bingham, on the other hand, had only one noticeable win, the 2011
Australian Goldfields Open, but the Binginator has been in convincing form during the current season.
Winning a couple of key events like 2011 China Open and 2011 UK Championship along with an impressive run in the 2011 World Snooker Championship has placed the Bristol-born cueman in the list of top potters in the world. Meanwhile, Bingham had a bit of bad
luck after winning the Aussie event but still he made his way to the top-16 of the world.
Trump initiated the match with an outstanding frame win by 87-0 after smashing a cracking clearance of 87 points to lead 1-0. Bingham replied beautifully clinching back-to-back frames of 23-94 and 49-60 to snatch the lead by 1-2 after firing a fine knock
of 69 points along with some small breaks.
Mr. Haircut 100, Trump, pocketed a rattling break of 107 to take the fourth frame by 114-5 and pull level at 2-2. Before the 2011 World Snooker Championship runner-up could do more damage, the Basildon potter came up strong and grabbed the lead again by
2-3 after taking a fifth frame victory, 36-74. The 35-year-old potted a terrific break of 73 points to secure a leading position.
The 22-year-old trump did not lose his focus and won the match putting up a scintillating show after he was 2-3 down. The World Number Five cruised into four frame wins by 86-1, 122-1, 72-49 and 68-54 to claim the match win by 6-4.
Trump has now surged into the quarter-finals of the event where he will be meeting the Rocket, Ronnie O’Sullivan.
