England’s Judd Trump set to perform in 2011-12 PTC Grand Finals – Snooker News
Runner up in the 2011 World Snooker Championship, England’s Judd Trump is currently in Ireland where he will be participating in the Grand Finals of 2011-12 Players Tour Championship (PTC).
The Bristolian potter is all set to show his class in the tournament at the Bailey Allen Hall arena in Galway and win it to add another title in his profile. Trump feels he can take on any potter now to grab the title.
Trump made his way into the top 24 potters in the PTC Order of Merit after he performed brilliantly in the early PTC Events. With his scintillating form in the season, the 22-year-old Bristolian potter was able to win two PTC tournaments, PTC 2 and PTC 9
beating Ding Junhui and the Rocket, Ronnie O’Sullivan in the final encounters respectively.
Apart from the PTC wins, Trump also clinched a couple a Premier League and a Championship League event. One of his tremendous accomplishments in the 2011-12 Snooker Season was the 2011 UK Championship which he grabbed after beating Northern Ireland’s Mark
Allen by a close score line of 10-8. Trump is now looking forward to make an appearance in the Irish arena.
Speaking to the media, the 2011 UK Championship winner said, “I'm really looking forward to it. All of the top players have taken the Players Tour Championship events a lot more seriously this season, which means it's a very strong line up for the Grand
Finals.”
The Ace added, “Some of the players moaned about the prize money for some of the smaller events in the series, but we'll be playing for a top prize of £70,000, which makes it all worth it. I feel as if I have played well over the past few tournaments, but
I've just lost the odd frame here and there, which could have been the difference between winning and losing matches.”
Mr. Haircut 100 has been drawn in the quarter-final stage of the tournament along with Ronnie O’Sullivan, Graeme Dott, Mark Selby and Neil Robertson. He will meet the winner of first round match between China’s Xiao Guodong and the Welshman, Dominic Dale.
