England’s Judd Trump surges into quarters after beating Mark Allen in Round 2: 2012 German Masters
The 2011 UK Championship winner, England’s Judd Trump has surged into the quarters after ousting Northern Ireland’s Mark Allen in the second round of German Masters 2012 at the Tempodrom arena in Berlin, Germany. Trump won the encounter and secured a spot
in the next round by the score line of 5-2.
The 22-year-old put up an outstanding snooker display at the arena to unnerve his opponent. On the other hand, the Pistol got no opportunity to capitalise during the final session of the game. Trump showed his class at the baize with some classy knocks including
a cracking 79 clearance to nudge the Northern Irishman down by three frames.
After winning his second-round match, Trump said, “In these tournaments you've just got to get through the early rounds, then the crowds start building. I watched the final of this on TV last year and it looked brilliant. I've been used to playing on TV
and being the centre of attention, so when I'm on an outside table it's difficult. But it's up to me to keep winning and then I'll deserve to be on TV.”
Mr. Haircut 100 and the Antrim potter earlier met in the final encounter of the 2012 williamhill.com UK Championship at the York Barbican Centre, where Trump beat Allen to claim his first ever UK Championship title. After that, the Bristolian’s game slipped
down a bit in the 2012 Masters but he stayed focused and now, he has moved into the quarters.
The Ace will next play against Scottish professional snooker player, Stephen Maguire, who showed his tremendous snooker skills against the reigning World Snooker Champion, John Higgins in their Round 2 clash and defeated the Wizard of Wishaw by the score
line of 5-0. Scottish cueman, Higgins was whitewashed for the first time in the last 16 years, which is a major blow for him.
The Maguire-Trump clash will be worth watching as both potters have surged into the quarters after beating strong opponents in their second round matches.
