England’s Mark Selby grabs easy win over China’s Ding Junhui in 2011-12 PTC Grand Finals
England’s World Number one, Mark Selby has successfully surged into the quarter-final stage of the 2011-12 Players Tour Championship (PTC) Grand Finals after beating China’s Ding Junhui in the second round of the event. The match up was an easy win for the
Englishman as he trashed the Chinese with an easy score line of 4-1 at the Bailey Allen Hall arena in Galway, Ireland.
A month ago, both potters were up against each other at the same table in the final encounter of 2012 Welsh Open where the Chinese Sensation stunned the former World Snooker Championship runner-up with a classy snooker display at the Newport Centre. Selby
had no chance against Junhui and tumbled down by the score line of 9-6 and failed to lift the title.
This time in the second round of 2011-12 PTC Grand Finals, Selby paid the Chinese back with a marvellous snooker show at the arena where he had a great support from the Irish snooker lovers. The Star of the East, Junhui, was unable to put any pressure on
the 28-year-old and crumbled easily by 4-1 score line at the end.
On the other hand, the Jester from Leicester, Selby, kept his game up to the mark and maintained his dominance from the start of the match. He completely outplayed Junhui in a tremendous fashion firing some outstanding snooker shots. Selby now feels happy
after pulling level with the World Number eight.
While speaking to World Snooker after his match, Selby said, “I knew it would be tough because Ding is a class act, but I scored well and punished his mistakes. It's a good crowd here and I hope I can get to the latter stages and see a full house.”
Junhui put Selby under immense pressure after he claimed the first scrappy frame to lead the game 0-1. However, Selby was focused from the start and did not accept any pressure. He pulled back into the game with some scintillating form and swept the table
in the next four frames pocketing some sensational breaks of 75, 77 and 92 to drag the victory into his account and move forward into the quarters.
