England’s Mark Selby ready for 2012-13 Snooker Season: 2012 Wuxi Classic
Still holding the World Number one spot, England’s Mark Selby will be heading to China to take part in the 2012 Wuxi Classic snooker tournaments to launch his campaign of the 2012-13 Snooker Season. The Englishman will be defending the Wuxi Classic title
that he clinched last year after beating the former two-time World Snooker Championship runner up, compatriot Ali Carter by the score line of 9-7.
This time the event has more importance because it has a new status after World Snooker Chairman Barry Hearn announced that the Wuxi Classic will be a major ranking tournament in the 2012-13 Snooker Season. This is why the tournament will produce thrilling
competitions at the Wuxi Sports Center in Wuxi, China for the snooker fans.
Along with Selby himself, many other top guns of the game will also be aiming to hit the final spot of the event so the Jester from Leicester must pull up his socks because the event will feature many new exciting things during its run. However, despite
the fact the Selby will be facing tough challengers this year, as he is still desperate to give it a try once again against the leading cuemen.
He wrote his ambitions in a post on his official site, “The season started for most players a few weeks ago, but mine gets under way on Monday at the Wuxi Classic in China – and I’m raring to go. It’s been two months since I was beaten in the first round
of the World Championship, and it’s common knowledge that I was suffering from a neck injury.”
The Englishman added, “I’m pleased to say that, after plenty of rest and many sessions with a chiropractor, it’s much better and I’m 90 per cent fit. That still leaves a bit to go until I can say it’s completely healed, but the encouraging thing is that
when I get down to play a shot, there’s no discomfort anymore.”
Before Selby could play his match, the 2012 Wuxi Classic Wild Card round will commence to complete the first-round line up. The likes of former World Snooker Championship winner Ken Doherty are also placed in the Wild Card round.
