England’s Martin Johnson enforces strict code of conduct during 2011 Rugby World Cup
The manager of the English side, Martin Johnson, has warned his players to strictly follow all the new rules and regulations in the forthcoming Rugby World Cup 2011.
His caution has come after two of his players including Manu Tuilagi and Delon Armitage were banned during the Aviva Premiership for their on-field breech of conduct. Martin Johnson has asked his side to remain committed to their ultimate goal during their tour to New Zealand.
Martin Johnson is widely known to be a stern manager who never allows his team to indulge in unproductive activities while on or off the pitch. Johnson remained impressive with his duties during the Six Nations championship and led his side to the trophy.
Before the crucial match between England and France on February 26, the French coach had created a lot of hype and declared the match a ‘hate game’. In his media statement, the French coach Mark Lievremont, declared that the French hate the English team and want to win the championship. Martin Johnson reacted carefully and stopped his players from reacting to the Frenchman in media before the match. England defeated France by 17-9 and left the French l*****g their wounds.
This is in stark contrast to when England had to face a ridiculous situation during their last tour of New Zealand. Several players, including Topsy Ojo and Mike Brown, were caught in s*x scandals and later on the pair was fined by RFU.
Talking to reporters, Martin Johnson cleared things up and said, “We can't have guys getting suspended down there for events on or off the field. We are in New Zealand. We all know what that is like, it is a goldfish bowl. And you are at the World Cup so you are in a goldfish bowl within a goldfish bowl.”
He added that, "We need guys who are available to play. We don't need silly suspensions because it puts us all under pressure." Martin has been backed up by Thomas, the RFU chairman and said that we need better results in the largest event of the year.
Rugby World Cup is kicking off this year in New Zealand on September 9 and the English team is expected to be in the country before that time for practice and warm up.
