England’s Peter Ebdon ready for 2012 Premier League Snooker – Snooker News
Winner of the recently finished 2012 China Open snooker tournament, England’s Peter Ebdon has booked his place in the 2012 Premier League Snooker where he will be taking on the top guns of snooker. The former World Snooker Champion played impressively in
the Chinese event at the Beijing University Students Gymnasium arena and is looking forward to make an appearance at the Premier League.
The 41-year-old started his China Open campaign with some outstanding display of his snooker skills beating the Welsh potter Matthew Stevens 5-3 in Round 1, four-time World Snooker Champion John Higgins 5-4 in Round 2, 2012 Masters snooker tournament winner
Neil Robertson 5-3 in the quarters, the 2012 Welsh Open winner Ding Junhui 6-3 in the semi-finals and Scotland’s Stephen Maguire 10-9 in the final encounter.
The Englishman is quite happy after getting a place in the Premier League snooker and hopes he can produce some fireworks in the event. The tournament will feature the likes of Judd Trump, Ronnie O’Sullivan, Mark Williams, Mark Allen and Neil Robertson.
The new Beijing champion is all set to go and prove his class in the contest.
Speaking to World Snooker about his qualification in the league, Ebdon said, “I'm delighted to have won a place in the Premier League. It's a great tournament with a fantastic line up and it's a long time since I had the chance to play in it.”
The champ added, “I am a naturally fluent player but sometimes I try so hard, especially under pressure, that I knock myself out of my own rhythm because I don't want to make a mistake. It's a bad habit I have picked up over the years. It can be very frustrating
because I'm a better player when I get on with it.”
Currently he is present in England where he will be taking part in the qualifying session of the 2012 World Snooker Championship at the World Snooker Academy in Sheffield. He is placed in the final round of the qualifiers and needs only one victory to hit
the televised stages of the tournament. It will be interesting to see if Ebdon can carry his winning momentum forward into the 2012 Premier League Snooker.
