England’s Peter Ebdon trashes Ding Junhui in semi-final clash of 2012 China Open
Hopes of Chinese snooker fans finally came to a finish after they saw their local hero, the 2012 Welsh Open winner Ding Junhui tumbling down by the score line of 6-3 at the hands of the former World Snooker Champion from England, Peter Ebdon.
The Englishman showed some outstanding game play against the Chinese in the semi-final clash of the 2012 China Open snooker tournament at the Beijing University Students Gymnasium arena.
Before the game started at the venue, speculations were circling around that the penultimate encounter will be quite a thrilling game because the pair has displayed tremendous snooker genius throughout the tournament and will definitely bring fireworks to
the arena. Both Ebdon and Junhui showed their class during their campaign in the event and emerged victorious through intense situations.
The Chinese was being considered as the top contender of the game as he had been on cue for quite a while and his performance in the 2012 Welsh Open was a proof of his scintillating form. Even during his Beijing campaign, the Chinese Sensation was sparking
his cue brilliantly especially when he came back from 0-4 to win against his first opponent Ben Woollaston to win the game 5-4.
Ebdon on the other hand was also impressive at the baize and put up a stunning snooker display from the start of the tournament. In his semi-final game against the Chinese, he sprang back into the game after he was 1-3 down and hit five consecutive frame
wins to nudge his opponent three frames down at 6-3. Ebdon was one of the former champions and had the spark to surprise everyone in the arena.
The former champ will meet the Scotsman Stephen Maguire in the final encounter of the tournament. Maguire defeated England’s Stephen Lee in the first semi-final match by the score line of 6-2.
Ebdon’s success has definitely improved his chances to win the Championship and qualify for the upcoming 2012 World Snooker Championship at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield. Currently he has been placed in the final round of the qualifiers of the Championship
and has Sam Baird, David Grace, Alfie Burden and Jack Lisowski as potential challengers in the line-up.
