England’s Peter Ebdon worried about shot clock in 2012 Premier League Snooker
Former World Snooker Champion, England’s Peter Ebdon has successfully booked his place in the upcoming 2012 Premier League Snooker which is going to be held after 2012 World Snooker Qualifying School (Q School). The 41-year-old is hoping for a positive result
in the event but he is also worried about the shot clock in the league.
Speaking to World Snooker about his concerns, Ebdon said, “I am worried about the shot clock - the time might run out before I break off! But it might do me good. I am a naturally fluent player but sometimes I try so hard, especially under pressure, that
I knock myself out of my own rhythm because I don't want to make a mistake.”
The veteran added, “It's a bad habit I have picked up over the years. It can be very frustrating because I'm a better player when I get on with it. I will do my best but I don't know how I will handle it.”
The Englishman played outstandingly in the recently finished 2012 China Open snooker tournament at the Beijing University Students Gymnasium arena and clinched the title beating Scotland’s Stephen Maguire by the score line of 10-9 in the final encounter
of the event. The veteran grabbed his second Chinese title in his career after three years.
The Beijing Champion will be taking on the best potters across the world including the 2011 UK Championship winner Judd Trump, the former World Snooker Champion Neil Robertson, 2012 German Masters winner Ronnie O’Sullivan, the 2012 World Open winner Mark
Allen, the 2011 Australian Goldfields Open winner Barry Hawkins and the 2011 Shanghai Masters winner Mark Selby.
Ebdon participated in the Premier League previously in 2003 where he surged into the playoffs but lost there. The event will be a thriller as the main snooker players will be present at the arena.
Right now, the Chinese Champion is preparing for the 2012 World Snooker Championship starting from April 21. The qualifiers of the mega event will commence from April 17 at the World Snooker Academy in Sheffield. It will be interesting to see if Ebdon can
carry his winning momentum into the next tournament.
