England’s Ronnie O’Sullivan hints quitting snooker again
After getting caught by the glandular fever for the past seven months, the former three-time World Snooker Champion from England, Ronnie O’Sullivan pulled out of 2012 Haikou World Open and then the 2011-12 Players Tour Championship (PTC) Grand Finals where
he was one of the favourites. Now the Rocket has hinted his retirement from the game once again as he believes that he cannot handle the stress of the game.
The Wordsley potter participated in the 2012 German Masters despite his illness and still played well to claim the title. After that he reached the semi-final stage of the 2012 Welsh Open against the World Number one, compatriot Mark Selby. He was not able
to prove his class in the game and lost it by the score line of 2-6 but still he performed accordingly while suffering from illness.
However, after he came back home after finishing his run in the 2012 Welsh Open, which was later won by China’s Ding Junhui, the Englishman decided to take some rest and get his energies back together so that he can play without any problems.
For that purpose, O’Sullivan withdrew from the 2012 Haikou World Open and after that he refused to take part in the 2011-12 OTC Grand Finals in the very last moments just before the event started. Right now, the Essex Exocet is planning to quit the game
again as he does not feel any charm and believes that he cannot handle the pressure of the game.
He told his friends, “I can't take the stress of the game anymore. I want out.”
On the other hand, O’Sullivan’s manager Django Fung said to the Independent, “He finds the travelling and trying to juggle family with his professional life very stressful. He is a single parent and when he is flying away every two weeks rather than being
at home with his children. I hope he continues his career past the end of the year but we will have to wait and see.”
He added, “The Ryanair issue was simply a matter of the airline wanting him to pay an extra €10 to sit next to his friend, which I thought was out of order. The doctor had told him not to travel and he was sweating and as white as a ghost getting off the
flight. He's resting now.”
The participation of O’Sullivan in the upcoming snooker event, the 2012 China Open, is also a bit suspicious as the potters has not announced about his availability in the tournament so far.
