England’s Shaun Murphy aiming for major ranking title in 2012-13 Snooker Season – Snooker News
With the finish of the 2012 World Snooker Qualifying School (Q School) at the World Snooker Academy in May, the proceedings of the 2012-13 Snooker Season have started. The qualifying sessions of 2012 Wuxi Classic snooker event and the 2012 Australian Goldfields
open snooker tournament have given a fresh start to the new season where all potters have entered with new hopes in their heart.
Similarly, the former World Snooker Championship winner from England, Shaun Murphy has expressed his ambition for the new season. The Englishman played convincingly in the previous snooker season despite the fact that he was unable to win many major ranking
snooker titles. The Englishman is now aiming to add at least one major ranking snooker title during his run this season.
While speaking to the local media, Murphy said “I was consistent last season and I moved up the rankings but this time I want to win more silverware. The top players look to do well in the big events and I would like to win at least one major title. I haven't
played at all since the World Championship, other than one exhibition in Middlesbrough.”
The Magician added, “I have played a lot of golf and it was nice to win this event - credit to my team because they were brilliant. But I'm really looking forward to getting back into snooker now.”
Recently he visited Sofia and observed that the game is growing rapidly there and many young snooker stars are emerging from the region. He was quite happy to see the sport prospering in Sofia.
The 29-year-old Murphy will commence his new season campaign with his match against the winner of Wild Card round match between ken Doherty and Lu Ning in the opening round of the 2012 Wuxi Classic. He is looking forward to make an appearance in the recent
snooker season so that he can grab s strong position in the rankings as well as in the professional circuit. It will be exciting to see what type of impact Murphy will make during the season as he will be hoping for better results this time around.
