England’s Shaun Murphy looking to grab Masters snooker event title – Snooker Update
Finish of the 2011-12 Snooker Season was not so convincing for the former World Snooker Championship winner, England’s Shaun Murphy as he could not clinch any noticeable victory after winning the 2011 Brazil Masters snooker tournament where he defeated the
former World Championship winner, Scotland’s Graeme Dott by the score line of 5-0 in the final match.
However, after that he did reach the final encounter of the 2012 Masters snooker tournament where he was up against the 2010 World Snooker Championship winner, Neil Robertson. He played at his best but could not defeat the Aussie potter. The Thunder from
Down Under, Robertson, dominated the game in the final proceedings and ousted Murphy by the score line of 10-6.
Murphy was quite disappointed after losing to Robertson in the final of the third most prestigious snooker tournament after the World Snooker Championship and the UK Championship. The Englishman is in struggle to grab the Masters title because he has never
won one throughout his snooker career. He is in good shape in the recent snooker season and is hoping that this year he will make his way to the final of the Masters and claim the title he has missed so far.
While speaking to a local blog, Murphy said, “So far, I’d have to say winning the world Championships seven years ago. There’s been many good moments but my best is definitely that one. Well I’m yet to win The Masters so I’d like to add that to my collection
and joining a very small group of players to have won all three majors. After that, I always give 100% in every event I enter.”
The new snooker season was also not a good start for him as the 29-year-old Magician crashed out of the first round of the 2012 Wuxi Classic snooker event at the hands of Ken Doherty. Nevertheless, the 2012 Six-Red World Championship proved lucky for him
and he made it to the finals against Mark Davis but lost there by the score of 8-4.
Despite a slow start, Murphy is aiming for a superb run in the new season and believes that he will be able to win some major ranking snooker events.
