England’s Shaun Murphy ready for action in 2012-13 Snooker Season – Snooker Update
Line-up of the first two major ranking events of the 2012-13 Snooker Season, 2012 Wuxi Classic at the Wuxi Sports Center and the 2012 Australian Goldfields Open at the Bendigo Stadium in Victoria is all set to launch. The top guns of the game will battle
for a superb start of the new season as well for the ultimate glory of the events.
Like all other leading cuemen around the world, the former World Snooker Championship winner from England, Shaun Murphy is also preparing to begin his quest of the season with a new spark and energy in his cue. Despite the fact that he was unable to collect
some noticeable victories and titles in the previous season, the Englishman is looking forward for a dazzling start of this year’s run.
The Magician will begin his run of new season playing in the 2012 Wuxi Classic snooker tournament which is no more an invitational event but has got the status of a major ranking event. However, Murphy believes this year it will be different as he is feeling
confident and has high aims for the tournament.
During his interview with the Snookerblog, Murphy said, “It might still be June, but our season is set to get underway and tomorrow I fly off for a three-week stint that will see me competing in China, Thailand and Australia. I’m going out mentally very
fresh as I’ve tried something completely different this year in that I’ve given myself more down time than previous summers.”
The 29-year-old added, “My first round match isn’t until next Wednesday when I’ll either play Ken Doherty or a wildcard entry. But we have a PR Day to do before the tournament starts. It’s right and proper that we turn out for that and also, by flying out
early it gives me a chance to get used to the time difference.”
Murphy also participated in the last year’s Wuxi Classic and made it to the semi-final stage where he was up against the former two-time World Snooker Championship finalist, compatriot Ali Carter who ousted him by the score line of 6-3.
