England’s Stephen Lee faces Martin Gould in Round 1 of 2011-12 PTC Grand Finals – Snooker News
Runner up in the 2012 Haikou World Open snooker tournament, England’s Stephen Lee is ready to take on compatriot, Martin Gould in the first round of the 2011-12 Players Tour Championship (PTC) Grand Final. The final PTC event will commence from Wednesday,
March 14 at the Bailey Allen Hall Arena in Galway, Ireland.
Top guns of snooker are sharpening their cue sticks once against to take part in the last event of the 2011-12 Players Tour Championship (PTC). Despite losing to the Northern Irishman, Mark Allen in the final encounter of the 2012 World Open, Lee is still
hoping to make an appearance in the initial stage to set up potential second round clash with Michael Holt.
As compared to Gould, the 37-year-old Lee has been a better performer in the recent season. So far in the 2011-12 Snooker Season, Lee has participated in 59 matches of 27 events. After winning 41 these matches, Lee grabbed a match winning rate of 69.5 percent
which is quite impressive than that of last season. His frame winning percentage is, however, a bit lower at 60.1 after claiming 206 sets out of 343.
On the other hand, the 30-year-old Gould possess an average match winning ratio of 66.7 percent after clinching 36 frames out of 54 in 26 snooker tournaments during the current season. As per his frame wins, he has taken 182 frame victories out of 323 to
gain a frame winning frequency of 56.3 percent which is a bit lower than expected.
Meanwhile, according to the head-to-head stats of both potters, they have played each other twice in their career and both have triumphed in one game each which means the odds are equal. However, the individual progress of the pair shows the difference where
Lee has definitely more advantage over Gould.
The event will feature the likes of current World Snooker Champion Scotland’s John Higgins, the 2011 UK Championship winner Judd Trump, the 2012 German Masters winner Ronnie O’Sullivan, the World Number one Mark Selby, the 2012 Welsh Open Champion Ding Junhui,
the former World Snooker Champion Neil Robertson and the 2012 Snooker Shootout event winner England’s Barry Hawkins.
