England’s Stephen Lee hails Irish snooker fans as he participates in 2011-12 PTC Grand Final
Runner up in the 2012 Haikou World Open against Northern Ireland’s Mark Allen, England’s Stephen Lee will be heading to Bailey Allen Hall in Galway, Ireland to take part in the 2011-12 Players Tour Champion (PTC) Grand Final. The Englishman believes he plays
better in Ireland because the snooker fans there are the best spectators around the World.
The Englishman reckons the Irish snooker fans because of their sports spirit and their hospitality. He said that Irish fans are the best because they appreciate and motivate you all the time during the play. He described the Irish people as “second to none”
as they come to watch snooker and cheer the potters up during their matches.
The 37-year-old Englishman will soon be heading to Ireland to play in the final event of the 2011-12 PTC run. The event will feature all top order cueman in the event and Lee believes the tournament will be a great hit especially in the presence of the Irish
people. Lee will be playing his first match against compatriot Martin Gould in the first round of the tournament.
While speaking to World Snooker, Lee said, “I'm really looking forward to it because the fans in Ireland are second to none and they know what the game is all about. I remember playing in the old Irish Masters which was like nothing else. It's a great line-up
of players in Galway next week and the best-of-four frame format gives really fast flowing action.”
The Trowbridge potter has been a convincing player throughout the 2011-12 Snooker Season with no major ranking title win in his account. Despite the fact that he was not able to claim any major title, the Englishman did reach the final stages of a couple
of mega events and also won some minor events.
He made it to the final encounter of the 2012 Haikou World Open snooker tournament at the Haikou Stadium Arena in the Hainan Island, China but lost to the Northern Ireland’s Mark Allen by an easy score line of 10-1. However, he is now feeling confident after
playing Allen and feels that he can do better in the PTC Grand finals against Gould.
