England’s Stephen Lee victorious against Scotland’s Graeme Dott in Round 2 of 2012 China Open
Excellent display of snooker skills from the 2011-12 Players Tour Championship (PTC) Grand Finals winner, England’s Stephen Lee brought him on top against the former World Snooker Champion from Scotland, Graeme Dott. The Englishman totally outplayed the
Scotsman in the second session of the game and was able to hit the victory by the score line of 5-3.
Lee sparked his cue stick brilliantly in the second round clash of the 2012 China Open snooker tournament at the Beijing University Students Gymnasium arena to push his Scottish opponent down easily. The first session was a mixed luck for the Englishman
but he turned the tables in Session 2 to claim the win and made his way into the quarter-finals.
Lee fired a couple of tremendous snooker breaks of 100 and 54 to grab early lead in the match. Dott, on the other hand, was a bit slow and could pocket two half centuries of 51 and 54 in the first session. The second session did not finish in his favour
and he lost the game by 5-3 to Lee. He believes that too many misses he made in the match were the reason behind his loss.
Speaking to the World Snooker in his post match interview, Dott said, “I'm missing too many easy balls, I'm really low on confidence which is pretty hard because Stephen is high on confidence and playing well. I'm not scoring high enough and missing too
many easy balls so you're not going to win many matches playing like that.”
The former champ added, “I think it would be a minor miracle to turn it around in time for the World Championship. My form's not been any good all year. So many years I've gone to the World and done well but it's hard to keep doing that.”
Dott won the China Open in 2007 and was hoping to make an appearance in this event as well but he failed to improvise accordingly. Meanwhile, Lee will meet the former Word Snooker Championship runner up, compatriot Judd Trump in the quarter-final clash at
the Beijing University Students Gymnasium arena.
