http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c749’s Tim Bresnan not overconfident after impressive bowling performance against India
England’s fast bowling all-rounder Tim Bresnan, who enjoyed success with the ball against India in a high scoring game, was confident of doing well in the upcoming matches of the World Cup as well. However, he didn’t get carried away after picking up a five
wicket haul against the hosts.
A total of 676 runs were scored in the encounter between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 and England, and there was nothing in the wicket for the bowlers. However, Bresnan bowled exceptionally well in the game, as the promising player scalped five wickets for just 48 runs in his
10 over spell.
Even though Bresnan was way better than all the bowlers in that match, he said that conditions in the Subcontinent could be tricky, and they could turn out to be a nightmare for the fast bowlers since there was no margin of error.
Commenting on the difficulty to bowl in batting friendly conditions, the star all-rounder said, “It wasn't swinging a great deal up top and it's not really moving off the seam, so it's quite difficult to take wickets without using variations.”
He further added, “You have to try to mix it up as much as you can and create pressure and take wickets that way.”
A couple of controversies were raised after the epic match, and one of them was the decision to give Ian Bell not-out, even though replays suggested that the ball would have gone on to hit the stumps.
However, on-field umpire Billy Bowden turned the appeal down from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028 decided to review the decision, but the third umpire stuck with Bowden’s decision, as the ball struck the batsman’s pads more than 2.5 metres away from
the stumps.
Even though Bell thought he was out, Bresnan said that the batsman was unaware of the rule and that caused some confusion in the middle. He further stated that the rule definitely made sense, as hawk-eye was not considered to be 100 percent accurate.
England will face http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ireland-c751 in their next Pool B match of the ICC World Cup 2011 today, and the Poms will be looking forward to winning the match against their neighbours convincingly.
