England’s skipper Alastair Cook wants team to learn from mistakes despite winning
England’s One Day International (ODI) skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AN-Cook-c1026 wants his side to learn from mistakes even if they are winning every game at the moment. The team currently leads the 50-over series against India by 2-0 with a couple of more matches remaining.
The Poms defeated http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 in the third ODI of the five-match series by three wickets and seven balls remaining at the Kennington Oval, London on Friday, September 9, 2011.
Commenting on the game, Cook stated, “There’s always stuff to learn, always stuff we can improve. In an ideal world we’d have got them out for less, but sometimes the opposition are allowed to play well.”
The 26-year-old pointed out at the runs leaked by his bowlers towards the end of the Indian innings. He said, “They probably did get too many, if we’re being really honest with ourselves, because after the Powerplay, they got about 70 or 80 off the last
eight overs. It’s slightly stressful being there and not able to control when the ball’s flying to all corners.”
The flow of runs from the tourists towards the end helped them to post a decent total of 234 for the loss of seven wickets at the end of their allotted 50 overs.
This caused a few problems for the Poms, as their batsmen were tested during the run chase. The team did get off to a solid start, courtesy a quick-fire half-century from wicketkeeper batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/C-Kieswetter-c1206, but wickets started to tumble in the middle
of the innings.
Most of the batsmen got starts, but failed to convert them into something significant, which made things a little more challenging towards the end of the innings.
However, lower-order players http://www.senore.com/Cricket/TT-Bresnan-c2711 put together a crucial partnership of 60 runs for the sixth wicket, which helped the hosts win the match by three wickets in the end.
Both teams will be headed to Lord’s for the fourth ODI of the series. A win for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 will give them the series, which will complete their dominance over the Men in Blue in all formats of the game, as the Poms have already been victorious in the Test and
Twewnty20 series.
