  1. Unfortunately, a 2 is not a passing. The only passing scores are 3,4,and 5. It probably won't lower your chances of getting into Arizona State because colleges will still see that you tried. Also, if colleges see that you did well in the actual class, not the test, then you'll be fine. You also have the option of not submitting certain AP scores; so, if you don't want to show colleges that you didn't pass, you don't have to! You can also retake the test next year if you really want to pass! Good luck!

  2. A 3 and above is considered passing so no you did not pass.  But I do not think that it will lower your chances of getting into ASU

  3. You should be happy to hear that colleges don't see what you got on the AP tests until after you are accepted. When you apply, you usually just state that you took the AP tests for the AP classes in which you were enrolled. So no, it will not lower your chances of gettign into college, even Arizona State. You should also know that colleges accept only one English AP test you take in 11th and 12th grade. So if you do better on the AP Literature exam (12th grade), then you will receive credit for that and the colleges will disregard your score on the AP Language and Composition exam. So you're pretty much fine...don't worry.

  4. There are no passing grades on AP tests. The College Board defines the scores as follows:

    5 = Extremely well-qualified

    4 = Well-qualified

    3 = Qualified

    2 = Possibly qualified

    1 = No recommendation

    Colleges use these scores to allow students to pass out of certain introductory-level classes. Most colleges only accept 4s or 5s for this. The actual grade that you received in the english class is much more important to the college than your AP score. If you got an A or B in the class, then your AP score won't hurt you because they know that you were able to succeed in your particular situation (maybe a bad teacher, bad test day, etc). However, if you received a C, D, or F, this could lower your chances of admission (well, duh, a C, D, or F in any class will lower your chances of getting into colleges).

    As far as I know, Arizona State is not an extremely selective school. It will certainly help that you took the more rigorous class anyways.
