English County Lancashire signs up Pakistani pacer Junaid Khan
The English County, Lancashire, has signed up http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Junaid-Khan-c77037, for the ongoing Friends Life Twenty20 tournament.
The second edition of English domestic T20 championship, Friends Life T20, started with a high-voltage game between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rose-c86842 Bowl on June 1, 2011.
The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Glen-Chapple-c60141, is one of strongest contenders of the trophy this season.
The director of Lancashire, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Michael-Watkinson-c76240, has confirmed a deal with Junaid, who was recommended to county by the legendary fast bowler, Wasim Akram.
However, the left-arm fast bowler will have to get himself registered before participating in the English domestic competition.
"Junaid is a hot prospect who was recommended to us by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MF-Maharoof-c1944, Junaid joins us on modest terms with an incentive to play county cricket in the hope of furthering his international ambitions," said Watkinson.
Although, Junaid was selected in the Pakistan's World Cup squad as a replacement player for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sohail-Tanvir-c90665, he did not find any opportunity to show his skills in the showpiece event.
The lanky pacer made his One Day International (ODI) debut against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ireland-c751, he impressed by grabbing six wickets in two games.
So far in his ODI career, the 21-year-old pacer has played seven matches in which he picked up nine wickets at a strike rate of 32.00.
The Lancashire head coach, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Peter-Moores-c81848, is also hopeful that the young fast bowler will add a lot of value to the team’s bowling department.
"Junaid is an extremely talented cricketer who will supplement our seam attack. He bowls with good pace and variation and we look forward to working with him," Moores stated.
In the ongoing Twenty20 championship, every team will have to play 16 group matches before qualifying into the second round. The Lancashire side is currently leading the points table with two wins and scheduled to meet http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Leicestershire-c807 next, on Wednesday, June 8, 2011.
