English Felicity Johnson displays stunning performance in Unicredit Ladies German Open
Felicity Johnson of England displayed a stunning performance in the final round of the Unicredit Ladies German Open, as she posted an explosive 64 to jump to 4th position on the leaderboard.
The English star was happy to see her name among the top performers at the end of the four-day tournament, held at Golfpark Gut Hausern, Germany.
Johnson got off to a slow start, as she posted a 70, 73 and 72 in the first three rounds. However, in the final round, she picked up pace and registered a stunning 64 on the leaderboard.
Commentators said that if Johnson had played a little more sensible game in the opening round, she would have made a massive score and put her rivals in trouble.
The golfing sensation started the final round with plenty of confidence, as she was determined not to surrender to her nerve. She received a big round of applause from the crowd, as she made an eagle on the
very first hole.
Analysts said that Johnson looked completely different in the final round, as her body language reflected that she was firm to keep the pressure high on other contenders.
She was standing at the 28th position on the leaderboard at the end of the third round. However, posting a 64 helped the English star reach 4th spot.
After bagging praise on the first hole, Johnson cheered the fans yet again as she drained 2 back-to-back birdies. Thereafter, on the par-5 5th and par-4 6th, she made another two birdies,
consolidating her position on the leaderboard.
On the back nine, the English star faltered a little, but maintained the momentum and recorded three birdies and two bogeys.
Commentators said that despite the strong field that featured LET giants, Johnson played a superb game. They said that the course record is 63-under par, and coming close to that is a remarkable achievement
for The English prodigy.
Anne-Lise Caudal proved her worth in the prestigious event, as she beat the 2010 champion, Laura Davies in playoff. Sharing her thoughts about the tournament, Caudal said that she held her nerve, which was
a great help.
“I was pretty confident with my wedge. I had a wedge in my hand to hit to the pin and I just breathed a lot and tried to calm down because my heart was pretty fast. I just breathed and believed in what I’m
doing,” she said.
