Among the well known Category One races, Romford Puppy Cup is an event which is the most anticipated one in the greyhound racing calendar.
The race covers 400 meters and is organised on the dirt track of Coral Romford Greyhound Stadium.
Three events are scheduled for this specific race. Among them are the Heats which will be held first.
The Romford Puppy Cup Heats will take place on Monday, the 12th of September, 2011.
The Heats entail a total prize money of £1,800, out of which, the lucky winner will not only win a purse worth £150, but also qualify for the next round, the semi-finals.
Thirty six hounds are all set by their trainers for the draw, scheduled on Monday.
Among them is the famous champion of greyhound racing and the title winner of the William Hill Puppy Derby, Eden Star.
Trainer Barrie Draper’s shining star, Eden Star, is the 7/4 favourite of this event.
He has already made his position in the race with his previous prestigious wins. High expectations are attached with the two-year-old hound who has never missed the chance of winning a purse for his trainer.
There are few more champs amid Eden Star to chase the lure, aiming to win the purse in the finale.
Droopys Lorenzo, who was among the finalists of the Coral On TV Maiden Trophy Final, is placed in the draw under trainer D D Knights.
Coral Champions Night Puppy Standard's finalist, Mountjoy Hawk, will be competing in the heats on Monday for his trainer, S A Cahill.
The winners of the Heats will proceed one step forward to the big event, the Romford Puppy Cup, and the lucky ones will qualify for the semi-finals.
The Romford Puppy Cup Semi-Finals will take place at the Coral Romford Greyhound Stadium, covering the same 400 meters distance.
