Question:

English Language Exam On Tuesday.. How Are You All Preparing?

I'm currently revising from Bitesize. In the writing to argue, persuade, and advise section. I'm not exactly sure what we will have to write about in the exam obviously, but I am going to go with writing to persuade on the topic that is included. Consequently, that is my strongest point I can write about. Although I have an English-Media exam on thursday, so will the exam on tuesday be about poems from other cultures?

Need to get that cleared up. I am taking the higher paper by the way, and striving for a B or even an A if I work to my full potential. Good luck to you all, and try to not get stressed out about any upcoming exams!

  1. Most of my friends are revising for it.

    I have chose not to.

It is my opinion that English is a skill, a talent as it were that cannot be successfully learnt.

Basically you have it or you don't.

You cannot learn the flair of debate for the argue section.

Or revise how to embrace poetry and search for hidden meaning.

  2. Bitesize is terrible, read lots of newspaper articles, study them and try ot write your own and have someone check them.

  3. I'm not really preparing. There's not much you can do. I'll just look over the structure for the question in the second segment. I'm going to go with the question on writing to persuade. I find that the easiest.

For Thursday's exam, it's a question on poems for other cultures and then a question on writing to describe or explain. Again there's not much you can do for that exam either except look over the poems and the structure for the second question.

Good luck on Tuesday and Thursday. =]

  4. i have the same exam. Bitesize is great!

No, The english Language paper 1 which consists of Analysising two media articles-section a, and Writing to argue/persuade/inform-section b...is on Tuesday 3rd June.

And  The English language Paper 2 which is the poems from diff cultures-section a, and writing to inform, explain or describe-section b...is on Thursday 5th June.

So make sure you rememember that, you dont want to revising the wrong thing!!!

By the way are you doing AQA aswell???

    Good luck!!! :)
