English League News: Johnson excited about new season, Cahill puts Everton first and Vermaelen eyes silverware
 
Johnson’s excitement:

Manchester City winger, Adam Johnson, expressed his excitement of playing the new season for his club, and said that he can’t wait for it to start. Johnson joined City from Middlesbrough in January and made an instant impact on the Eastlands. He has made 15 appearances so far, and scored the winner against Sunderland. He aims to do more for his club, but faces tough competition as City has already signed David Silva, Jerome Boateng and Yaya Toure. He however doesn’t lack any self confidence and is hopeful that his performance will leave manager Roberto Mancini no choice but to play him in every match. He expects that the new season will be full of success for the Eastlands.

He praised City for giving him the opportunity to play, and didn’t want the season to end owing to the form he was in. He claimed that Manchester city is a great club to play in, and the club is progressing to something big. He insisted that City has a huge squad which may be helpful as they are to play two cups along with the Europa League. He was aware of the fact that not everyone can play every game, and there he will make it into the starting XI of many matches. He added that City will need a good squad along with a strong bench, and was restless of playing the first match for his club.

"We need a good squad with strong people on the bench. There will obviously be changes for different games and I'm ready for that. It's going to be exciting times. I can't wait."
 
Cahill loves Toffees:

Tim Cahill played for Australia in the FIFA World Cup 2010, and his campaign was filled with mixed emotions. He was sent off in the first match against Germany, following a straight red card and couldn’t also play the next match. His team lost 4-0 to Germany on the day, and played the final match of the tournament against Serbia. Australia were then eliminated, and Cahill, who is now 30, puts Everton ahead of his international career. He will be thirty four when the next World Cup is played, and upon inquiring about him being in the international squad, he simply replied that his main focus is playing for Everton”. His manager however praised Cahill’s resilience and stated that Cahill will play an important role in Australia’s next World Cup campaign. Cahill is yet to confirm commitment to his national side which aims to qualify for the Asian Cup, which starts in January in Qatar.
 
Vermaelen expects trophies at Arsenal:

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger prepares Arsenal for yet another campaign, despite key players of his squad still missing owing to the World Cup. Arsenal plays their first match against Liverpool at Anfield, which will be an interesting bout. Belgian centre back Thomas Vermaelen, 24, was the only signing of Arsenal last season. He was impressive in his first season and proved to a player of the highest quality. He stated that it was not easy for him to play in another country, and Premier League is the toughest of them all. He learned a lot from his first season, and hopes to improve in the next season. He aims to learn from his mistakes, and utilize the skills he has earned for playing in the top flight of English football. He was sad that his the previous season didn’t work out for his club, and vowed to work even harder in the new one. He was however confident that his side can win trophies this year, ending Arsenal’s 5 year trophy drought. He blamed injuries for the side’s debacle, and hopes that most of the key players can stay fit for most of the season. Arsenal finished third in the Premier League, behind Manchester United and Champions Chelsea.
