  1. Hi,

I know people are saying that Lit is the easiest but let me say it isn't easy at all. It is very heavy on analytical skills, and you tend to need to know more than just the books, you need to know about the contexts, historical events, people, places.... So if you're into that then go ahead. There is a Synoptics paper in A2 which is solid.

My friends did Lang and really enjoyed the creative aspect and looking into meaning etc, but in a different way to how you study Lit.

  2. I changed at the last minute to do lang. instead of lit. for A-level and absolutely loved it.

I didn't like the fact that analyzing books made me stop liking the books which was why i changed my mind.If you're interested in picking apart themes Lit. is probably for you.

If you're interested in language as a part of society and seeing how its used ,not just in novels, but in everything then language will be better for you.

If you're still undecided then many colleges offer a combined english A-level where you will study parts of both.

If all else fails just take both A-levels!

    Hope I've been of help.

  3. I would suggest that Lit is the easiest, nevertheless, it is still a challenging subject, I loved doing this as one of my A-level subjects, I received a B. Good Luck with your's.  here are some revision links that should prove useful.

  4. i think lit is the easiest i did it at a level (its basically read something and write about it). but i think lang is the most usefull now i ve been to uni.

  5. I liked them both equally so I studied both as separate subjects for my A-Levels (and got an A for Literature and a B for Language). I'm now doing an English Language and Linguistics (which is a branch of Language) degree.

You read more doing Literature and are required to analyse everything from the content to the time and context in which it was written. While in English Language you're required to look at the history, society, the grammar, how people acquire language, you get to look at how it evolves and how it's used for various purposes.

But I wouldn't say that either one is the easiest as they both require you to use different analytical skills. And a subject is only as hard as the effort you put in. If you study hard, read all the books and go to every class then I'm sure you'll find it easier than if you only put in the minimum effort and don't do much.

Do both if you want to.

  6. I've chosen English literature
