English Premier League, Arsene Wenger respects Arsenal's budget constraints
Arsenal’s manager, Arsene Wenger has stated that he would have to remain inside the budget allotted to him, for the winter transfer window.
Although, Wenger is not known to be a big spender in any transfer window and for him to say that he would respect the budget, would mean, no signings this winter.
Wenger is the manager known for signing young players, who show some sort of talent, in leagues all around the world. However, Arsenal has not won a single trophy for the past five years and the manager’s transfer policy has been criticized owing to that.
The side has not managed to sign any big name players for the past few years, which Wenger labels as “Financial Fair Play”. The manager criticized his Premier League rivals, claiming that each of those clubs are under financial difficulties whereas Arsenal is not.
He stated, "We respect our budget. You look at clubs who lose £100m or £150m and if we do that, then we go bust. It's as simple as that. We pay what we can afford. I'm amazed that people are amazed that we do that. I think what is surprising is that people don't respect that. The beauty of the competition and this club is to be successful while respecting the financial balance".
Arsenal is currently in the semifinal of the Carling Cup and is tied against Ipswich Town. The side would want to end their trophy drought by at least lifting the Carling Cup.  Bringing a few big name players, especially at the back would really benefit the North London club.
The side just cannot defend and this summer’s signings of defenders have failed to live up to their expectations. Arsene Wenger has to be credited for making the club debt free but this has led the club to having no big name players and sacrificing trophies. Arsenal has consistently been able to be in the top four of the Premier League but crashes out of every tournament, usually in the quarter final stage.
