Liverpool interested in Shaun Wright Phillips
Reports reveal that Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson is interested in bringing Manchester City player Shaun Wright Phillips to Liverpool. Hodgson already made it clear that he wished to bring five to six new players to Anfield in the January transfer window, and
according to recent reports Wright Phillips seems to be on his target list.
Wright Phillips began his senior career at Manchester City. But due to a lack of playing opportunity, the midfielder moved to Champions Chelsea. He has had an unsuccessful spell with the Blues since then manager, Jose Mourinho, could not fit him in the squad.
He moved back to City in 2008 and after recent events seems to be on his way out.
The 29-year old previously stated that he wished to stay at Manchester City for the remainder of his career, but because of competition has not been able to maintain a place in the first team. His competition is players like David Silva and James Milner,
who are not only younger than him but are also considered more talented.
Roy Hodgson will look to make the most of Wright Phillips’s lack of first team opportunity and will try to lure him away from Manchester City to Liverpool. His expected price is £5 million, which Hodgson would gladly pay, but in the end Liverpool’s transfers
in January will depend mostly on how much money is made available to them by their new owners, NESV.
West Ham consider signing Adam Hammill
Sources close to the club revealed that West Ham is interested in Adam Hammill, the Barnsley striker. The club is reportedly willing to pay up to £500,000 for the striker but will have to go against Blackpool, Bolton Wanderers and Wigan, all of whom want
to sign the young forward. His contract has not yet expired so it is unlikely that the player will move any time soon.
Hammill came from the Liverpool youth academy, and was a part of the side, which won the FA Youth Cup in 2006. Since then he was loaned out to different sides until finally transferring to Barnsley in 2009. He has scored five goals and provided five essential
assists for Barnsley and has an efficiency ratio of a goal or assist every 115.6 minutes this season.
Hammill has proved to be an efficient winger as well as a striker. He has the ability to perform on both flanks. He possesses great pace and strength and has been a major threat to the other Championship sides. He reads the game well and has the ability
to change it with his inspirational performances. An introduction to the Premier League could do great things for this young striker.
