English Premier League: A Dozen Facts and Figures in EPL till the 6th week (Part 2)
3. 3 - The Aston Villa left winger Stewart Downing has been in amazing form this season. The 26 year old was acquired by the Villains just last season when they bought him from Middlesbrough.
The 26 year old forward had scored 2 goals in the entire last season and those happened in 25 caps. This time however he seems to be the man who will edge out Aston Villa into a better finish.
This season Downing has already scored 3 goals in 6 matches. Therefore his star performance has led his club to the 5th position in Premier League. If he continues such a performance it can surely be
said that Aston Villa will prosper in the intensified league this season.
4. 22 - This season the English Premier League is already heavily intensified. The level of intensity presented in the English tournament is high and that is why the league is considered to be the most
competitive in the world.
In all other Leagues of the world, the order of positioning is still held by the Top 4. At the maximum, other leagues have presented a total of 6 top teams, which has kept a rift from being created in the league.
The power and talent still persists in other leagues but in the English Premier League it is a very different story as this has caused many more draws than usual. Though there was a concentration of impressive teams in the English
Premier League last season too but this season the form of talent has exploded making the competition much more open.
For example last season there were just 4 draws till this time in the League. This season however there have already been
22 draws and that has resulted in a very low amount of points on the table. With most teams at the same point level the contest right now is being judged by goal differences.
Another reason for this balance of power in the paramount league of England is the diversity of players the league possesses. For instance in the English Premier League about 46% of players belong to England itself in comparison
to Germany’s 61% and Spain’s 73%.
This diversity in talent and the wealth of clubs has granted the license to clubs so that they can buy foreign players. Therefore each team has now more talent to fight in the bout with, henceforth more competition.
