English Premier League: A Dozen Facts and Figures in EPL till the 6th week (Part 5)
9.    1 - Chelsea still emanates the aura of dominance, even though they have lost the past 2 matches they played.
As a matter of fact Chelsea has not lost two consecutive matches in the past four years and that is in any kind of competitions or tournaments.
Other than the last two matches that they played, their form has been superb. They have won the first 5 matches in the English Premier League this season and their only loss came in the 6th. But one has to admit that
'they have won the early matches', is an understatement. It would make more sense to say that they obliterated other teams in the run towards victory.
While their record at the home Stamford Bridge is amazing itself, they have barely lost to another team in the past seasons on any turf. Like their former manager Jose Mourinho stated, Chelsea does not lose at the ‘Bridge’.
This lead to them winning the 2009-10 season where the only threat to them were challengers Manchester United who were closely following them on the table. One other team that troubled them were Manchester City as the money loaded
club had defeated them with their purchased talent.
In the end Chelsea won the English Premier League title and have started this season in a similar fiery fashion; as they defeat teams with huge margins.
Their new manager Carlo Ancelotti has been the mastermind behind this as he has taught the Blues a couple of new tricks, such as the revolutionary technique of pouncing on the ball and cutting through defenders.
Their midfield game has improved a lot and now even when their crucial midfielders such as Frank Lampard and Michael Essien are out, they managed well enough. They have also said their good byes this summer to Michael Ballack,
Juliano Belletti and Joe Cole.
This suggests the large amount of talent present in the club, including the replacements the club has available to them for when a player gets injured. The new youth emerging from the South of London is impressive too and it seems
Chelsea will have home bred classic players.
Though they have been defeated by Newcastle United 4-3 in the Carling Cup which was followed by an EPL defeat of 1-0 from Manchester City, the club is too focused to be defeated again.
However their next match is against Arsenal and they are not playing with a full team therefore a threat is posed from Arsenal who will have the services of a couple of their injured players.
Nevertheless this is the 1st time Chelsea has lost two consecutive matches in 4 years therefore a bigger picture suggests the entire story of their domination.
