English Premier League: Arsenal vs Blackpool Full time report, Arsenal sink six past ten man Blackpool
Arsenal were all set to face Blackpool in the first game of the second week of matches in the English Premier League. Arsenal were looking to redeem them selves after a terrible run in with Liverpool at Anfield the previous week.
Blackpool on the other hand were looking to continue their hot streak, after having beaten Wigan by three goals to nil in the teams first match in the top flight. Blackpool were however aware that they were going to be facing a huge task in the shape of Arsenal.
There was some bad news and good news for Arsenal going into the game. Arsenal's best player from the previous week, Samir Nasri was out due to a surgery that he had on his right knee. However Cesc Fabregas was set to feature on the Arsenal bench for this game.
Being Arsenal's first home game, the stadium was packed with fans and there were hardly any empty seats. As the start of the match drew near the fans got into action and were in full blast.
The match soon got underway. From the very first minute however Arsenal were dominating the game. They were controlling the possession and the flow with which the game was moving. In the twelfth minute Arsenal had the ball in the back of Blackpool's goal. After some slick passing, Theo Walcott finished off the move by side footing the ball into the bottom left corner.
Blackpool were unable to cope with Arsenal's pacey style of play and in the thirtieth minute Ian Evatt was given the marching orders for going in late on Chamakh. The resulting penalty was slotted home by the Russian Assasin, Andrei Arshavin. In the thirty ninth minute Walcott got his second and Arsenals third. Settling the match almost certainly. The first drew to a close with the score being three nil in Arsenals favor and the stand out performers being, Walcott and Chamakh.
The second half kicked of in a similar manner to the first halfs ending. Arsenal were on top of the game and Blackpool couldn't do much about it. Four minutes into the second half Abou Diaby recieved a reverse pass from Sagna and sweeped it into the back of the net.
From there on, Arsenal decided to display some exhibition football. They were stringing together near impossible passes and were splitting through Blackpool like a hot knife through butter.
Nine minutes after that goal, Walcott scored his first hat trick since finding the back of the net thrice for England in a friendly. He collected a Diaby pass, controlled brilliantly ran in from the right side of the box towards the left before curling a delightful ball into the far left post.
Soon after, Van Persie and Fabregas were brought on. The two weren't a hundred percent but the fans were rearing to see them. They all got what they wished for as Diaby and Walcott made their way for the two to make their home debuts.
Arsenal however significantly turned the pace of the game down, probabbly to conserve their energy for later. However Chamakh was the one player who truly deserved a goal. On the eighty third minute he headed a Van Persie corner superbly and saw it bounce into the top of the roof of the net. The striker showed with authority just what he is capable of.
The match then ended with the score line being six nil in Arsenal's favor. The stadium erupted and the fans were left believing that this could very well be the year when Arsenal finally see's some silverware.
