English Premier League: Arsenal vs Blackpool Half time report
Arsenal were all set to face Blackpool in the first game of the second week of matches in the English Premier League. Arsenal were looking to redeem themselves after a terrible run in with Liverpool at Anfield the previous week.
Blackpool on the other hand were looking to continue their hot streak, after having beaten Wigan by three goals to nil in the teams fist match in the top flight. Blackpool were however aware that they were going to be facing a huge task in the shape of Arsenal.
There was some bad news and good news for Arsenal going into the game. Arsenal's best player from the previous week, Samir Nasri was out due to a surgery that he had on his right knee. However Cesc Fabregas was set to feature on the Arsenal bench for this game.
Being Arsenal's first home game, the stadium was packed with fans and there were hardly any empty seats. As the start of the match drew near the fans got into action and were in full blast.
The match soon got underway. Form the first minute however Arsenal were dominating the game. They were controlling the possession and the flow with which the game was moving. In the twelfth minute Arsenal had the ball in the back of Blackpool's goal. After some slick passing, Theo Walcott finished off the move by side footing the ball into the bottom left corner.
Blackpool were unable to cope with Arsenal's pacey style of play and in the thirtieth minute Ian Evatt was given the marching orders for going in late on Chamakh. The resulting penalty was slotted home by the Russian Assasin, Andrei Arshavin.
In the thirty ninth minute Walcott got his second and Arsenals third. Settling the match almost certainly. The first drew to a close with the score being three nil in Arsenals favor and the stand out performers being, Walcott and Chamakh.
