English Premier League: Arshavin talks up Arsenal as Kranjcar seeks a move away from White Hart Lane
Andrei Arshavin’s Arsenal side fought their way to an impressive two goals to one win over Everton at the Goodison Park on Sunday to climb to the second place spot above Manchester United in the English Premier League table.
Arshavin wasn’t as spectacular as he has been for Arsenal over the past two years against Everton but the little Russian who has a terrific record in Merseyside admitted after the match that he likes to play for Arsenal against the likes
of Liverpool and Everton.
The Russian forward said, “I like to play in Liverpool, and I haven’t changed my mind after this match," he told his official website. It is clear that they have a serious confrontation in their city. Before the game, some Liverpool fans
were asking me to beat their sworn enemies."
Even though he didn’t score himself during the match, Arshavin played a crucial role in the build up to Arsenal’s first goal at the Goodison Park during their match against Everton.
Andrei Arshavin commented on his team’s win as he said "We managed to bring home 6 points from 2 away games, and that allowed us to get into the second place. When you win, score points, it gives you additional strength. Of course, it’s
always better to top the table throughout the whole championship. But, if you go second in the table, it’s psychologically easier to catch up with the leader than when your team is lower in the standings.”
On the other side of London, Tottenham’s midfielder Nico Kranjcar is seeking a move away from White Hart Lane after being relegated to the bench for Hotspurs. Nico has seen less and less first team action ever since Rafael Van Der Vaart
came to the White Hart Lane in the summer of 2010.
The Croatian midfielder spoke to the press as he said, "Of course, I have to wait to see what Tottenham have to say, but as things stand, a transfer somewhere else is not that far away. I am not angry or too disappointed. I believe that
things will improve at Spurs, but if not then I will look for a club where I can play week in and week out. I don't want to spend my years just sitting on the bench because I love this sport which is why I'm unhappy when I'm not playing more regularly."
Nico’s father Zlatko also spoke to the media about his son’s situation at Tottenham. He said, "That is his choice and I totally agree with him. There just isn't any sense to be sitting on the bench all the time."
In other news, Blackpool’s midfielder Charlie Adams is hoping that he will be fit for his club side’s match against Wolves despite the fact that he picked up a knee injury during his national team’s match against Faroe Islands on Tuesday
night. Scotland ended up as winners eventually but Adams was substituted during the match due to the injury.
Blackpool’s captain told the press, "I am a wee bit sore and stiff in the knee, but I should be okay and hopefully be alright for Saturday. We need to try and win every game, no matter who we are playing against and we try and win every
game, but every game is difficult in the Premier League so we take each one as it comes. We will be preparing well for it and hopefully we will be ready."
Blackpool drew their last league match against West Ham United at the Upton Park. Despite having a host of chances to take the lead during the match, the Seasiders failed to gather all three points against Avram Grant’s men.
