Chris Herd, the 21-year-old Australian midfielder, has signed a three and a half year contract with Aston Villa. Herd joined Villa when he was only 15 years old, and has recently made his debut for the side in the Premier League against Manchester United.

Jean Makoun arrives for a medical at Aston Villa

An official statement released by the French
club stated, “The completion of the transfer still depends on the results of the medical checks and the player reaching an agreement with the club managed by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gerard-c14664 Houllier.”
Aston Villa manage, Gerard Houllier is positive about the transfer and is certain that he will be able to bring the 27-year-old midfielder to Villa Park. A deal worth of £5million to £6.5million could bring the former Lille player to the Premier League.
While discussing about the deal, Houllier admitted that he had previously attempted to sign him, while he was in charge of Lyon, but failed. However, the French manager said he hoped he would succeed this time, saying he could use someone like Makoun in his
squad.
Houllier said, “He can play as a holding midfielder or go box to box and it is an area where we don't have a lot of experience. The two that are playing at the moment, (Nigel) Reo-Coker and (Stiliyan) Petrov, we saw what happened when the two were injured
at the same time. It is an area where we need more players and we are trying to sign quality players. When he was at Lille, I tried to sign him (for Lyon) and they signed him just after I left.”
Benzema to stay at Real Madrid
