English Premier League: Charlie Adam focused on football
Charlie Adam has come out and made it clear that he is focused on helping Blackpool maintain their Premier League status for another season.
Adam was a target of transfer speculation in the winter transfer window as bids from Tottenham and Liverpool came in for the Scotsman.
However, Blackpool eventually held onto their most prized asset after http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 failed to meet their evaluation. The Seasiders have been highly dependent on Adam’s talents in the 2010-2011 Premier League season. In fact, Charlie
Adam played a huge role in Blackpool’s promotion to the English Premier League following their sixth place finish in the Npower Championship division.
Adam was labelled by Sir Alex Ferguson as a 10 million pound man back in January, before the midfielder assisted two goals against Manchester United when the Red Devils visited Bloomfield Road.
Moreover, Adam was a target for Tottenham as well. But the London club’s bid came in the dying moments of the January transfer window and thus the deal was not completed in time before the 1st of February, 2011.
Ian Holloway has been largely responsible for the rise that Adam has seen in the English Premier League. Holloway was quite clear on the whole Charlie Adam transfer saga in the January transfer window as he made it clear that Liverpool
was not coming up with the correct evaluation for the midfielder.
In his latest interview, Charlie Adam stated that it was evidently quite easy for him to deal with the whole transfer window saga in January.
He said that he played for Blackpool after the month of January against West Ham United and Everton.
Adam said, "It's done, the window is closed. The aim now is to keep Blackpool in the league. It's going to be difficult after losing a couple but it's a wonderful league to be playing in. The last day of the transfer window was
all a bit mad. It's like every transfer window, isn't it? Everybody goes mental - Sky Sports especially, with the clock ticking down on one side of the television”.
Charlie Adam also added to his comments that the most important thing for a footballer is to play football and despite the fact that he would’ve gotten a massive pay rise on his transfer to either Tottenham or Liverpool, he chose
to stay at Blackpool.
Blackpool now play their next league encounter against Aston Villa at Bloomfield Road. The Seasiders will be hoping that they pick up their form sooner rather than later but Villa will be up for the encounter despite acquiring
