English Premier League: Chelsea vs. Sunderland Half-Time Report – Part 1
Sunderland and Chelsea played out an eventful first half of football at the Stadium of Light as it was Sunderland who started the match off brightly. Sunderland pushed Chelsea on the back-foot right in the first minute of the match
as the ball was brought forward by Steed Malbranque on the right side of Sunderland’s midfield area. The Frenchman then played it to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Asamoah-Gyan-c6791 who tried his luck on goal but failed quite miserably as the referee pointed towards a goal kick for the visiting
side.
In the 4th minute of the match, Sunderland marched forward yet again and this time to a greater effect than before. It was http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steed-Malbranque-c33957 who played the ball towards Phil Bardsley after going past two Chelsea midfielders
in the center of the park. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Petr-Cech-c29837 into
the far corner of Chelsea’s net to give his team an early advantage in the match.
Bardsley’s goal was a wakeup call for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 who had been slumbering for the first five minutes of the match. However, the English champions soon switched gear and built an offensive move of their own as Frank Lampard pulled the
strings in the center of the field. The English international switched the play immediately towards http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ashley-Cole-c6809, who found himself in space inside the Sunderland penalty area.
The full back was then fouled by El Muhammadi as the referee spotted the infringement and signalled towards a Chelsea penalty kick. It was http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Frank-Lampard-c14097 who stepped up authoritatively and slotted the ball home for the Blues to
bring his side on level terms with the home side. However, the action didn’t end there. In the 23rd minute, Chelsea blitzed ahead yet again through Anelka.
To be continued.
