English Premier League: Contenders for Player of the Season award (Part 3)

The English Premier League is only five weeks in, however most experts have already predicted a list of players, who are is strong contention to take home the player of the season award, once the season ends next summer.
Some might argue that it is far too early, to predict who is going to be performing better than the rest, in the coming months. None the less the experts have already correctly shortlisted the players who have won the prestigious honors in the past and hope
to do the same this time around. Here is a look at the players, who they believe will win the award.
Mikel Arteta: Everton ended their previous season, with a poor run in of form and that form eventually saw them drop out of contention for the Champions League spot. The team has also so far had a very poor start to their season. They are
currently in the bottom quarter of the Premier League table and even managed to crash out of the Carling Cup.
The reason Everton did so poorly last season, was because of the fact that the teams, main man, Mikel Arteta was out injured for a majority of the season and the reason that they haven’t been performing at the level that everyone has come to expect of them,
is because Arteta still hasn’t managed to fully recover.
What this proves to us is that, Arteta is the heart that runs the entire Everton side. Without the Spanish midfielder performing at his level best the team has hit a bump in form. They would be hoping that the Spaniard can pick his form up again, because
when he is playing at his best he is as good as anyone else in the world.
Arteta has tremendous crossing ability and a very keen eye to see passes that a normal player just wouldn’t think to be possible. He has a deadly set piece and even tends to score goals on occasions.
If Arteta, can get back to his former form, then he is bound to become one of the players who would be in strong contention to lift the player of the season award.
Patrice Evra: Patrice Evra came into this year’s Premier League, at the end of a disastrous World Cup campaign with France. The player was assumed to be felling the side effects of the tournament and was given some extra days off by Alex
Ferguson to recover mentally. The side back however has said that he is fully recovered and now has his mind set to doing the best that he can with United.
The side back had been one of the best players on the United side last season and was looking to continue that fine run of form this season. Evra has tremendous pace and the ability to defend as well as attack, when required by his team. It is these abilities
of the French men that set him apart from all the other side backs in the league.
Alex Ferguson, will also be looking to Evra to provide some extra guidance to the younger defenders who are coming up in the ranks. If Evra can manage to perform the way he did last season and forget about his World Cup, then the veteran defender has a very
good chance as becoming the player of the season this year.
