English Premier League: Drogba touts up Liverpool’s chances as Wilshere reveals role models
Didier Drogba has come out and given a warning to his team mates that Liverpool cannot be taken lightly as the Blues travel to Anfield to face the Reds in one of the most anticipated encounters of the English league season. Despite the
fact that Liverpool have had a terrible start to the season, the Ivory Coast captain remains adamant that they are an outfit which cannot be underestimated. Chelsea won their match at Anfield against Liverpool during the 2009-2010 English Premier League season
but now the tables have turned.
Back then, Liverpool were vying for a spot in the UEFA Champions League qualification spots in the Premier League table but now they are fighting for a spot in the top ten teams of the English league at the moment. Chelsea are currently
thirteen points ahead of Liverpool in the English Premier League standings but Drogba is taking nothing for granted as he spoke to the media ahead of his team’s tie against the Merseyside reds.
Didier said, "There is never a good time to go to Anfield because they are a very strong team. They will try to use this game to start their season, so we have to be ready. We are seeing a different Liverpool than the one from earlier
in the season. They have won their last two matches and their confidence is getting higher. We have to be careful. It's true that we shouldn't fear any team but we're going to have some difficult moments. Since I've been here, Chelsea versus Liverpool has
been special and it's always a difficult game. We're going there to win but it's not going to be easy."
Chelsea’s manager, Carlo Ancelloti has confirmed that the Blues’ captain John Terry will make a return to first team action against Liverpool on Sunday. The experienced centre back missed Chelsea’s last competitive fixture in the UEFA
Champions League against Spartak Moscow, a match that Chelsea won by four goals to nil. Ancelloti will also be welcoming back Michael Essien who was out with a toe injury recently but Chelsea will be without their French winger, Florent Malouda.
Chelsea F.C will also be glad that Frank Lampard has recovered from his hernia operation which was conducted a month back due to his groin problems. Carlo Ancelloti spoke about the injury scenario at the Stamford Bridge as he said, "John
Terry I rested because he played a lot of games and I want to maintain the players' fitness. Essien had a little problem on his toe but will be fit for the game against Liverpool. Malouda has a twist on his ankle, not a big problem but he is not able to play
against Liverpool, the week after yes, and we hope Frank can play."
On the other side of London, Jack Wilshere, Arsenal’s young and upcoming central midfielder revealed that he is aiming to become a combination of Brady and Viera. Two previous Arsenal greats, Wilshere has already worked with Brady who
is the head of youth development at Arsenal. Jack has been touted as the next big thing in English football due to his passing skills.
Wilshere spoke about his role models as he said, “Liam Brady is my role model. He has always been there in my career. He has helped me a lot and people have said I am a similar player to him. I was on the books when Patrick was still here
and I think the way he tackled and intercepted play is something I would add to my game. The strongest part of my game at the moment is my passing and my weakest is probably my right foot, but I’m working on that.”
The youthful Englishman concluded by saying that, “Cesc Fabregas also talks to me and tells me what I need to do. He was 16 when he burst on to the scene so you just need to talk to the senior players like him and they help you through.”
