English Premier League: Florent Malouda bullish ahead of the City tie
After embarrassing the likes of Stoke City, West Bromwich Albion, Wigan and more recently Blackpool F.C, Chelsea the English Premier League champions are at the top of the current Premier League table. The Blues have had an incredible
start to the season, they have been rampant in their attack and their main man this season has been Florent Malouda. The winger came to Chelsea for club duty after having an abysmal summer in South Africa with the French national team at the FIFA 2010 World
Cup.
Malouda established his spot in Chelsea’s starting line-up after performing incredibly well in the 2009-2010 season in the English Premier League. Last season, a season when Chelsea won the English Premier League by scoring a record
number of goals, Malouda contributed with fifteen goals in fifty appearances. And this season the Chelsea winger has already scored six goals in six matches, a healthy return on his starting figures under Carlo Ancelloti’s direction.
It took some time for the Frenchman to settle at Chelsea after his high profile move to the English Champions in the 2007-2008 season from his former employers and the French league champions, Olympic Lyon. Playing alongside the likes
of Anelka and Drogba has really assisted Malouda and his exploits in the English Premier League. Malouda himself has become one of the most feared players in the league now but he insists that his team is scared of nobody despite facing easy opposition in
their first six games of the season.
In their next three games of the English Premier League season, Chelsea travel to Manchester to face the big money boys, Manchester City. After dealing with Roberto Mancini’s team, Carlo’s men face London rivals Arsenal in what is
expected to be a strong test of Chelsea’s defence. Following the match with Arsenal, Chelsea are scheduled to take on Aston Villa who are in a dire run of form but do have the capability to ring an upset on the Blues. Wins in these matches, will surely silence
Chelsea’s critics who have constantly pointed towards their easy start to the season as a cause of their lead at the top of the English Premier League table.
Malouda spoke after Chelsea’s four goal win over Blackpool to the press and said that, people doubt Chelsea’s accomplishments so far in the season as they say the blues have had “easy” games so far. He added that wins against City
and Arsenal will prove that Chelsea are ready to face any kind of opposition. Florent said that people view games against City and Arsenal as tests for Arsenal but for Chelsea this can be a chance to prove that they are the current English champions and that
they will defend their title at any cost.
The ex-Lyon man said that, Chelsea are trying to improve on what they achieved last season. He told the press that when the club’s players came back to training after the summer break, they didn’t think that the season will be easy
because Chelsea are champions. Malouda further said that, players knew that they will be under pressure but he assured the fans that Chelsea have experienced players who can deal with pressure and stay calm. The winger added that, City were the only team to
do a double on Chelsea in the 2009-2010 title winning season, therefore it is a big motivation for all the players at the club to get a win over the summer’s top spenders.
Talking about the title race, Florent said that it is going to be a tight one till the end of the season. He said that when other contenders drop points, Chelsea must be ready to take their opportunities. If Chelsea win the English
Premier League this season, they will capture their fourth English Premier League crown which will put them one ahead of Arsenal as far as English Premier League title wins are concerned.
