English Premier League Full Time Report:
West Brom Albion v
Bolton – WBA hold Bolton at home
West Brom played host to Bolton in the teams’ clash in the Barclays Premier League. Bolton managed to get the lead on the night, through Johan Elmander, but a brilliant header by James Morrison saw the game end in a one all draw.
West Brom, who were the home side, dominated the game throughout the first half but failed to capitalise on their dominance and score.
In the second half however, a inch perfect pass was played by Kevin Davies into the path of Johan Elmander in the sixty fourth minute and the forward latched on to the ball brilliantly before converting it and giving the away side
the lead. That goal made it look like Bolton would take all the points from the game.
However a tactical change in the second half by West Brom saw them pull a goal back with just twelve minutes left to go in the game. Peter Odemwingie set up Morrison, who rushed into the box in dramatic fashion to head home from
six yards out – settling the score on the night.
Had West Brom won their game tonight, they could have gone all the way to second in the Premier League standings, which would have been one of the greatest achievements in the team’s recent history. However that was not the case,
as the home side let the game slip away in the latter stages and had to settle for a draw, which saw them remain in sixth.
Bolton tried to win the match late on in the dying stages and almost managed to do just that via Matt Taylor. The midfielder bent in a superb free kick, but his shot just managed to float wide. He then tested the goal again five
minutes from time, but was denied once more.
West Brom tried to nick the game too, and Odemwingie was found with a brilliant diagonal ball, but the forward couldn't keep his shot on target after having controlled it brilliantly to get it into a shooting position.
Despite having drawn their game, West Brom would be highly disappointed with the outcome of the match. This is because the team was easily the more dominant on the night, but due to their own mistakes they saw their hold on the
match slowly fade away. After the international break is over, West Brom will be hoping their form hasn’t disintegrated.
