English Premier League Gossip: Rio Ferdinand on his way out, Barcelona want Carlos Tevez
Rio Ferdinand, the former England captain, may be in the ride of his life as he is scheduled to soon find out that not only is he on the verge of losing out on a permanent role in the England side, he may also no longer be
captain of the England side.
According to a press release, “Capello may stick with Phil Jagielka for the Euro 2012 qualifier with Montenegro at Wembley on Tuesday. Boss Capello was so impressed with the Everton ace in the first two qualifying wins he
is considering leaving fit-again Ferdinand on the bench.”
“Capello is not convinced Ferdinand is fully up to match fitness and if he gets any hint Rio is not quite right in training, beginning today, he will not start.”
Ferdinand, who missed out on a trip to the World Cup, due to a back injury that he picked up during training, might soon be found wishing that he never recovered to face what might prove to be the worst news of his life,
to date.
If this decision is made by the manager, then it would only go on to confirm the fact that Steven Gerrard is officially the active captain for England and will continue to be the captain till he decides to call it quits.
In other rather bizarre news, it appears as though Carlos Tevez, the Argentinean work horse, is on the brink of a move to Barcelona.
Tevez was reported to recently have a major bust up with the Manchester City manager, Roberto Mancini, and it is believed that the player no longer wishes to play under the Italian. However City won't be letting their
captain leave the side so easily.
Lionel Messi, who plays in the national team with Tevez, has also been reported telling the Barcelona management that the addition of Tevez to the side could do wonders, and perhaps it is the chemistry between the two
Argentinians that would see this move happen in the near future.
Barcelona are currently facing a very poor start to their domestic season and that is mainly due to the fact that the team just can't seem to find the golden touch in front of goal. The team will now be left to wonder
if perhaps the addition of Tevez is just what they need. The forward has proven in the past that he has what it takes to play on the biggest stage and having played with Messi and Mascherano numerous times before, he won't be wasting any time in adjusting
to the squad.
