English Premier League – Half Time Report: Tottenham versus Newcastle United (Part 2)
In the 26th minute, Tottenham Hotspur surged forward once again and this time it was Gareth Bale who played a one-two with Rafael Van Der Vaart. The Welshman embarked on a majestic run inside the Newcastle United penalty area as he went past Coloccini
but he was eventually tackled by Alan Smith. Nonetheless, the ball went out of play for a Tottenham corner kick which was taken by Rafael Van Der Vaart but it was easily cleared by the Magpies’ defence.
From the 27th minute onwards, Newcastle United found it hard to get on the ball as Tottenham controlled majority of the possession. In the 30th minute, it was http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wilson-Palacios-c36948 who was tackled by Tiote inside the Tottenham half of the
field. Joey Barton also became involved in the aftermath of the tackle much to the dismay of the Tottenham fans at the White Hart Lane.
In the 31st minute, Tottenham attacked once again and this time it was Lennon who led the offense. In the 32nd minute, Alan Smith was penalized for a tackle on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gareth-Bale-c14422 from behind; the referee spotted the foul and pointed for a
Tottenham free kick. Alan Smith protested his innocence but the referee didn’t pay heed to his words as Rafael Van Der Vaart took the free kick. The free kick almost caught out Tim Krul in the Newcastle United goal who tipped the effort over the bar for a
Spur's corner kick.
The corner kick was an inaccurate one for Tottenham as Newcastle United regained possession but in the 33rd minute of the match, Palacios was tackled by Tiote who then attacked up field and unleashed a powerful shot on target. However, Gomez was
on hand to save the shot as Tottenham counter attacked. In the 34th minute, Tiote was booked by the referee for his tackle on Modric on the half way line. It was the first booking of the match for either of the two sides as Tiote was shown the yellow
card.
