English Premier League – Half Time Report: Tottenham versus Newcastle United (Part 3)

In the 35th minute, Modric played in Rafael Van Der Vaart who tried his luck on goal but his final shot was a weak one as Newcastle escaped punishment once again. In the 36th minute, Joey Barton was tackled by Rafael Van Der Vaart as
the Englishman was awarded the free kick by the referee. Barton took the free kick but his delivery was way off the mark as it missed the Tottenham penalty area. In the 37th minute, Tottenham were spurred on by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gareth-Bale-c14422 but the winger’s eventual
cross was a wayward one as Newcastle United regained possession.
In the 38th minute, Palacios was booked by the referee for a foul on Andy Carroll. The English striker was on his way towards the Tottenham penalty area as he was tackled by the Tottenham midfielder who had initially gifted the ball back to Newcastle
United. The free kick was taken by Joey Barton who tried his luck on goal but his shot went straight into the Tottenham wall of players. His rebounded shot was also off the target as the ball went out of play for a Tottenham goal kick.
In the 40th minute, Alan Smith was once again in the spot light as he was warned by the referee who pointed for a Tottenham free kick after Smith had tackled Modric in the midfield area. The free kick was taken quickly by Tottenham who rushed
up field as Van Der Vaart gathered the ball.
However, the Dutchman’s touch was a heavy one as Newcastle United regained possession. In the 42nd minute of the match, Tottenham embarked on an attacking move as Bale switched play towards Aaron Lennon on the right hand side of Spur's attack
but Lennon’s cross took a double deflection as the ball went over the touch line for a Newcastle United goal kick.
The latter minutes of the first half saw Tottenham control the tempo of the match as the ball fell to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roman-Pavlyuchenko-c31639 headed towards the goal but Tim Krul showcased amazing reflexes to palm the
ball away as the referee eventually blew for the half time break as Newcastle United and Tottenham exited the field with the score-line at 0-0.
