English Premier League – Half Time Review: Arsenal versus Chelsea (Part 3)
In the 21st minute of the match, Arsenal were awarded a free kick inside the Chelsea half of the field. It was http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Samir-Nasri-c32360 who stepped up to take the free kick for the Gunners, his shot on target was a powerful one but Petr Cech was up to the
task as he held onto the ball. Similarly in the 22nd minute, Chelsea launched a long ball into the Arsenal box, the cross that was played in by Malouda was headed away by Theo Walcott as Chelsea were forced to resume play from the half way line.
The game died down in tempo from 23rd minute onwards as Chelsea tried to narrow the game down to their style of play. Arsenal found it hard to increase the tempo of the match due to the lack of possession that they experienced. However, Wenger’s
men almost got their opening goal in the 25th minute as Theo Walcott was played in by Cesc Fabregas. The Spanish midfielder’s accurate long ball fell to Walcott who knocked it past John Terry but then failed to get a shot off in time as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Petr-Cech-c29837
gathered the loose ball.
In the 26th minute of the match, the end to end play resumed as Fabregas almost unlocked Chelsea’s defence with a through ball to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/John-Terry-c18895 read the ball and intercepted in time to close the move down for Chelsea. In the
27th minute, it was Arsenal who regained possession inside their own half after Drogba miss-controlled a pass from Lampard. The first yellow card of the match came in the 28th minute as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ashley-Cole-c6809 was booked by the referee as he brought
down http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Theo-Walcott-c34873 near his own penalty area.
However, the ensuing set piece was a wayward one for the Gunners as none of the Arsenal players inside the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 area rose to meet the ball effectively. In the 29th minute of the match, Arsenal were awarded another free kick but this set piece
was also quite inaccurate as Chelsea cleared their lines easily.
