English Premier League: Harry Redknapp says United will push Chelsea to the limit
Redknapp spoke before his team’s match against Manchester United; the former Portsmouth man made it clear that the Red Devils are an outfit which will push Chelsea all the way in the English Premier League title. Manchester United
are the only unbeaten team in the English Premier League at the moment and despite their woeful start to the season, the giants of English football find themselves just five points behind leaders Chelsea in third place spot in the Premier League table.
Harry Redknapp’s side travels to Manchester to face Alex Ferguson’s team at Old Trafford on Saturday. However, the match will see the absence of Wayne Rooney who recently turned back on his decision to leave the club by signing a
new five year contract. The new contract and supposedly made Wayne Rooney, the best paid player in England. Nonetheless, the striker is facing an extended period on the sidelines due to an aggravated ankle injury, he sustained way back in March of 2010.
Harry Redknapp spoke to his heart’s content as he said, “They've had a few problems, haven't they, obviously losing Rooney with his injury and then another few problems they've had with Rooney, when he comes back firing on all cylinders,
they'll always be there. They've got a fantastic manager; he gets the best out of them every year; they produce great teams and I wouldn't write them off. They'll be right again there pushing all the way for the championship. Chelsea are obviously favorites
at the moment but I don't think Man United will be too far away again come the end of the season."
United will put out a side which will be devoid of Wayne Rooney’s services Harry admitted that he will be relieved if Rooney is not playing as the former Southampton boss said that, I'd be a liar if I said otherwise, I’d rather see
Rooney's name not on the team-sheet any day of the week." It has been 21 years since, Spurs won at Old Trafford. Redknapp reflected on his team’s past record against Manchester United at the theatre of dreams in a light mood as he stated, “I wouldn't take
the blame for what happened in '89 or '90, or '91, '92, '93, or all those other years. It's a hard place for anyone. How many teams have been there and won? They lose one or two home games a season at the most. And it's different players here now. They wouldn't
know about that record or anything else. It's a new experience for some of them."
Redknapp emphasized the fact that Tottenham need to do better against Arsenal, United and Chelsea on their travels as he added to his comments by saying, "We need to go away from home and play at Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Man United
and pick up a win, we did it at Man City last year, obviously, and I think they'll probably be a top-four team this year. But we need to go away from home in one or two of those games and pick up better results this year than we have in the past. A lot of
it is belief, believing that you can go there and get a result. If you go there and you're negative about it, you won't. We'll go there tomorrow with a team looking to take the game, if we can, to Man United.”
Redknapp further added, "We're not going to go there and shut up shop completely. We've got talent and we'll look to go there and do our best to attack them at every opportunity that we get.” Harry revealed that he might rest Bale
for Tottenham’s upcoming midweek clash with Inter Milan. The Tottenham manager expressed, "We've got two big games and I'll look at it. He's had a really hard spell of playing game after game."
