English Premier League: Holloway denies rumors of quitting Blackpool
Ian Holloway has come out fighting against rumors in the British media circles relating him to a possible walkout from Blackpool. Holloway has called these reports ludicrous. The Seasiders manager led his team to a promotion to the English Premier League, which is the top tier of English football. He is about to line up as a Premier League manager from the 14th of August, 2010.
Ian Holloway has already got a taste of what the top flight of English football brings to the table, as he has found it hard to stay out of the headlines because the media has shown an unhealthy obsession with his team.
Ian Holloway has, against all odds led Blackpool to the English Premier League. He signed a one-year contract with Blackpool on 21st of May, 2009. He signed Charlie Adam from Scottish giants Rangers for a club record fee of 500,000 pounds. He then led the Seasiders to a sixth place finish in the Championships, which is the second tier of English football. In doing so, Blackpool earned a playoff place.
Blackpool played their playoff match against Nottingham Forest in both the playoff legs to book themselves a final match against Cardiff City for a spot in the English Premier League for the season, 2010-2011. They defeated Cardiff by a score line of three goals to two in the final match which took place at the Wembley Stadium in London. By winning the match, Blackpool assured themselves of a place in the English Premier League season for the year 2010-2011. Ian Holloway’s efforts have guaranteed Blackpool their first Premier League appearance in the past 38 years.
Ian Holloway said in light of the recent reports speculating his future at the club that Blackpool will be doing some things which will better equip them to deal with the teams which currently occupy the top tier of English football. He said that, Blackpool along with him are going to work together. He stated that the media has been trying to write reports in order to create a divide between the manager, the players and himself. He made it clear that such reports won’t work as the club itself is quite strong  within itself.
He went onto say that, he is glad that he is in the mad house that is the English Premier League. He added that there have been all kinds of strange reports that have been floating around the English media; he said that there are absolutely ludicrous stories predicting his immediate walk away from the seaside club.
Holloway also commented on the latest player to depart from the Blackpool squad, the Algerian winger, Hameur Bouazza. Ian stated that he did not fit well with Bouazza so therefore it was better for both the club and the player that he was allowed to leave on a free transfer. Bouazza recently joined the French club, Arles-Avignon.
Holloway said that everyone at the club was disappointed because Bouazza didn’t come back to the club for the last month of the season. He concluded by stating that, his refusal to show up at the club to complete the season with the manager and the squad is why Blackpool are letting him go.
