English Premier League Injury News Update: Jamie Carragher, Jody Craddock
Liverpool FC vice-captain Jamie Carragher has been ruled out of action for at least 3 months after he dislocated his shoulder on the weekend. Carragher suffered the injury during Liverpool’s game against Tottenham Hotspur at White
Hart Lane, and could only last 85 minutes before being substituted.
The Reds lost the match to the Spurs in the last minute of the match, when Aaron Lennon snatched the winner for the Londoners.
The player went under a medical examination on Monday, but the full extent of his injury was revealed on Tuesday morning. It is reported that the England International will require a surgery in order to return to playing action.
He said, “It will probably be late February or early March when I'm looking to come back. It's difficult for me when I'm injured. It hasn't happened very often, and I'm very lucky with that I suppose, but maybe it's caught up with
me a little bit now. I've been here before with a broken leg which put me out this length of time. It's not easy but you've got to get on with it, and it makes you more determined to get back."
Jamie is the latest player to join a long Liverpool injury-list which includes club captain Steven Gerrard, defender Daniel Agger and midfielder Jay Spearing.
Meanwhile, Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Jody Craddock has delayed his return to 1st
team action.
Jody picked up a thigh injury during Wolves’ draw with West Ham United back in October, and was expected to return to full fitness this week.
Wolves’ manager Mick McCarthy, who already has a few key players missing due to injury, was upset by the news.
He said. “Jody's going to be out for quite a while - it could be six to eight weeks. It's still his hip and thigh - it's been bothering him. He's had it scanned again and there's a tear in it. He's got to have some treatment on
it but it's far worse than we thought. He won't be fit until after Christmas. It's a big blow for us and for him as well."
Wolverhampton are currently engaged in a relegation battle in the English Premier League with fellow strugglers West Ham United and Wigan Athletic; only 2 points separate the bottom three.
Wolves travel to Ewood Park on Saturday to face Blackburn Rovers in their next match.
